The Serial Killer's Wife
by Alice Hunter
4/5 stars!
I wanted to read this book because Paramount + have been coming out with so many book adaptations I can’t keep up! I love reading books then watching the adaptations and then annoying the person I’m watching it with the ‘well that doesn’t happen in the book!’
I have to admit though this book had a slow start. This book is quite short as the writing is quite large and it’s around 350 pages this book could easily be finished in an afternoon in one sitting. Even though not a lot happens in the first half it doesn’t feel sloggish it feels like there is something creeping around the corner your just waiting for a bomb to be dropped. I was tapping my fingers a little bit when reading the first half but I have to admit it is actually worth the wait. The twist wasn’t jaw dropping as I did have my theories but it was still so shocking to me.
I thought this book might be around victim blaming that mob (yummy mummy) mentality and being in everyone’s business. The press and how it effects the victims of tragedy. Also the horrific mind into serial killers mentality. Not really is all as it seems with the main character. The last half of this book was actually so entertaining. I have to admit it’s not a 5/5 star read it didn’t rock my world but I have to admit it has entertained and shocked me. I will be watching the adaptation!
