Neon Gods by Katee Robert

4.0

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. While most of the book was great, the middle really dragged. I loved Persephone, and her journey from innocent socialite to dark goddess. Hades was also a great well fleshed out character. The rest of the cast, not so much. I had a hard time with Zeus. I feel like I didn't understand his motivation to be such an evil person. Power, I guess?

I enjoyed exploring the lower city, and I hope to see it in more detail in future books. The upper city seemed like your typical grity city so often portrayed in books. Maybe the next book will dive deeper into the workings of the cities.

It wasn't bad, but it was amazing. Maybe it was very hyped up, so I had preconceived notions about how I thought it was going to go.
