Battle Ground, seventeenth in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series, takes place almost entirely in a single night of supernatural battle in Chicago. If you're a fan of the cinematic battle scenes in this series, then this is definitely for you. Lots of heroics, lots of dying, lots of magic and bullets flying. Reminds me of Avengers:Endgame, right down to the moment of "hero-stands-alone then an army comes to help", which was probably intentional given Butcher's fondness for pop culture references. And lots of shifts in personal and political alliances for Harry, as one would expect given the size of the battle. I enjoyed it as much as any of the series, not least because of all those shifts, which bodes well for future stories feeling less repetitive.
