My Not So Perfect Life
by Sophie Kinsella
My Not So Perfect Life is a fun and charming book. It was the perfect way to start my summer reading phase.
The main character Katie Brenner is a young woman trying to make an impression at the marketing agency where she works. The only problem is her perfect boss, Demeter, doesn't even know her name, calling her Cath instead of Cat.
She has moved to London to fulfill her dreams and reinvent her self from the Somerset country girl she was raised as. But living poor in a tiny room with two roommates is not quite Instagram worthy. While trying to put up a front about her perfect life with her family and friends, Katie (Cat) tries to navigate living on a budget and standing out enough for Demeter to notice her and her ideas.
Unfortunately, this all comes crashing down around her when Demeter fires her. What ensues is a series of escapades as Katie tries to figure out what exactly she wants out of life and that maybe that perfect life you think someone has isn't all it's cracked up to be.
This book is a great feel-good story how maybe not having the perfect life is actually ok.
