I really enjoyed this story! It was definitely fast-paced and interesting. I especially liked how this novel brought in some Greek tragedy and art. It wasn’t quite a favourite for me for a few reasons. First, I couldn’t quite wrap my head around the setting. I couldn’t place the time period and The Grove just felt very dull. It didn’t add to the novel in anyway. The second reason I didn’t love it has to do with how it ended.
there is a huge plot twist at the end which reveals a lot about Theo! Everything was well explained and connected enough but I wasn’t fully convinced that Theo was capable of destroying Alicia like that. He didn’t totally strike me as that type of obsessive psychopath, he just seemed like a slightly creepier than average guy. I guess the point of a plot twist is not to see it coming but this one just wasn’t convincing enough.
Overall, I would recommend The Silent Patient to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers or anyone looking for a fast paced read!
