I really can't think of anything redeeming to say about this book. The narrator is a self-centered, juvenile 37-year-old. I can understand why his wife is divorcing him. The mom is also self-centered and apparently never loved/cared for this son (but maybe did with her other sons). The storyline jumps around from present day to different times in the past with no clear indication that the time has switched. Could all of these things be because the book was translated from Norwegian. Maybe, but I doubt it...
