Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave was a good, light read that I managed to read in one afternoon. It's a sweet story about a woman who is finding her way alongside her family, there's a bit of a love triangle and it's all set against the beautiful background of her family vineyard in Sonoma County, which sounds amazing.
However, this book did feel somewhat repetitive, as our protagonist goes around and around in circles trying to figure out everything that's suddenly gone wrong in her life and how to fix it – she often makes decisions and then reneges on them, which frustrated me, even though those changes of heart made sense. I'm also not entirely sure I bought into the love story aspect of the plot, even though it was clearly supposed to be sweet and clandestine, because it had a weird Romeo-and-Juliet vibe but with no follow-through - it was just confusing to me for some reason.
Definitely glad I got this one out from the library and could recommend it if you're looking for a short read to ick you up out of a reading slump, or just need a quick pickup for a Saturday afternoon.
