I remember being really moved about the ending of Kingdom Cold, the first book in this series. I was also quite happy that the book seemed a standalone. So I wasn't sure how to feel when I saw this book. I did really like the first book, it was a 5-star book for me, but I also remember me saying that I was glad that the book was a standalone because it made the book stand out amongst all the series. I did want to try this book, mainly because I liked the first book so much.

Seeing the Goodreads score for this book, a lot of readers are happy that this is a series. I think I'm one of the few that was a bit disappointed maybe, because I liked the first book so much as a standalone. The book did win me over though, with the final 20% of this book. I was so shocked by the ending and it didn't even cross my mind EVER what happened there...
