King Leopold's Ghost by Adam Hochschild

5.0

Such a good (and brutal) history lesson. It feels odd to say I really enjoyed a book about a horrific subject, but it’s enriching and important to keep these stories alive.

The writing is so engaging and hooked me right in, I had to stop myself sometimes otherwise I wouldn’t have gone to bed.

Wish I had read this before The Poisonwood Bible (one of my favourite books, set in the late 50s to early 90s Congo) as it would have given it an extra layer of context.
