Heart Bones
by Colleen Hoover
Great story of kids who drop through the cracks in our social programs system. Angela Goethals was the perfect voice for Beyah, the main character. Her character development was kind of a gradual revelation of who she was - coming of age over the course of a summer. Hoover doesn't tie this up nicely; there are consequences to actions, some severe. I appreciate that in a YA novel. Overall this is a 4.5 star book, vaguely reminiscent of Hopeless and Losing Hope. I hope that she does a follow-up from Samson's perspective.
