I had the pleasure of getting to watch this being read by the author after it was revealed that this was the #5 most challenged book of 2019. The illustrator was also there and answered questions.
I absolutely looove this story. It’s sweet and kind and brings a joyful twist on fairytales. The story rhymes, which gives it a sing sing quality to the overall plot and the illustrations are gorgeous, bright, and full of love. They were my favorite part. The artist is very talented and I’d read anything she illustrates now. While it breaks my heart that people are trying to censor this, I love its message and think it’s the perfect book for a storytime or children’s collection
