The Face on the Milk Carton
by Caroline B. Cooney
This book had a really premise, it was written well and I enjoyed the narration. What dragged it down for me is that it was really a product of its time. I didn’t like how the mother was obsessed with her weight always talking about her diet and that she can’t have cake but worse than that the father kept agreeing! The boyfriend was just awful too, I find this often in point horror books and it’s probably very accurate to young boys in the 90s but it makes me cringe so hard. She’s pouring her heart out and he’s just focused on getting her into bed. Ick!! And it hurts that these boys/men are never called out on the behaviour it’s just accepted as the way things are, and that’s how it was I suppose but it still makes me mad
