I have no idea how this book made it onto my list or why I even picked it up, but oh man I'm glad I did. What a fascinating pair. First of all, it's absolutely shocking that Elizabeth Taylor made it to old age. She was very fragile health wise and her way of living certainly was not conducive to a long life. The description of how much these two drank in a day made my liver ache, it was unbelievable! It was also heartbreaking to see two people who love each other like crazy but just become toxic for each other. It's also funny to look back at them in film, e.g. clips of Cleopatra...it's crazy by todays standards that these two were the hottest thing at the time.
