Beethoven: The Universal Composer by Edmund Morris

3.25

Not bad, but hampered by its brevity and the author's lack of familiarity with how to write about music. I'm as against unnecessarily flowery descriptions of music as the next self-respecting writer, but so many classic pieces barely get a passing sentence in this book, which just places a barrier between you and getting to know the composer.
