This is such a strong, well written book! I loved it sooo much. The banter between two mc was smart, realistic and touching, at times hilarious. It was much grittier than I'd thought, the book really makes you think about how faulty justice systems are, about prejudice and also, the nature of hate crime. So, if you're sensitive to this topic I would advise you to think twice before picking this book up.
The mystery portion was…meh in the best way possible. Even though Cooper played a decent detective, he came off more like an amature sleugh rather than highly trained professional. I appreciate how carefully the author arranges the clues to the case, but maybe I like being confused more, than being right.  Other than that, I have no complaints.
