Notes from an Apocalypse: A Personal Journey to the End of the World and Back by Mark O'Connell

4.0

Reminiscent of an episode of This American Life, Notes muses on the author’s ennui regarding the many dangers facing humanity and that is followed up by a few adventures to confront those who dwell professionally or semiprofessionally in this environment. Thus we meet some doomsday preppers and get close to the uber rich making luxury bug out retreats in New Zealand. Written before the outbreak of Covid-19, it’s a timely book for all the wrong reasons but feels more pertinent for this reason.
