Between Two Kingdoms: A Memoir of a Life Interrupted by Suleika Jaouad

4.0

It seems off to say I enjoyed a book filled with such harrowing health struggles, but I'm not sure how else to describe my experience with it. Suleika Jaouad writes with such honesty and openness about her cancer diagnosis and ensuing treatment, so much so that this book gave me anxiety at times. I had no idea what cancer treatment entailed and Jaouad painted the picture so vividly I found myself terrified of a similar diagnosis. I loved how introspective she was with regard to her BF becoming her caretaker and how that was maybe not the best thing for the relationship and the way she handled a new relationship thereafter. I was rooting for her and all of her fellow cancer friends and I felt gutted when they passed. I really enjoyed this book but it was a tough read at times, which is the reason for 4 stars.
