Deeper Than the Dead by Tami Hoag

2.0

I'm a bit surprised that I haven't read any of Tami Hoag's books before, but I found this when I was looking for a filler book.

The story about young woman being tortured and murdered in a small, quiet town is interesting enough (albeit a bit gruesome), but I struggled a bit with the characters. They seemed a bit one-dimensional and a bit predictable. The relationship that develops was a little too "knight in shining armor" like for me as well. While there are a fair number of red herrings in this book, I still found it easy to figure out whodunit. But the biggest issue I had was that there were several loose ends and a couple of story lines that just seemed to die out. It may be that there are subsequent books that continue the story, but I'm not sure if I'll be checking them out.
