Read this book in a day. It's a well-crafted story with interesting characters--though, ironically, Mira is the character I found least interesting. Basically all trigger warnings apply to this book as there is a lot of trauma on all sides.
I don't think it spoils much to say that this is a story about homophobia in Indian and Indian-American communities then and now. It's surprising and a little disappointing that the book isn't openly advertised as such, given it's strong messaging about tolerance. The sapphic love story involving Reva and Vasu--and how it shaped Krish's life--was the heart of this book. Saket and Rumi were also great characters! Mira's journey, on the other hand, felt like it was there to frame the book around a straight couple. When her fiance abruptly turns into an angry homophobe at around 80% of the book, it made her "big decision" significantly easier!
