Trapped is the first in a new series by authors, Camilla Lackberg & Henrik Fexeus. I've read some Camilla Lackberg before but Henrik Fexeus is new to me. I picked this one up because I liked the premise and I am a huge fan of magic and illusion. I'm so glad I did because this book was amazing. The best thriller/mystery I have read in a long time. Just based on the strength of this one, I would auto-buy any further books in this series as well as other ones by these authors. This book ticks all the boxes you could ask for:
- Complex and multilayered plot
- Excellent twists and turns you won't see coming
- Flawed and interesting main characters you feel connected to
- Extremely well written
- Great length (not too short but not too long either)
- Gruesome and chilling crimes
- Gripping first chapter draws you in
- Thought-provoking enough to keep you thinking about it long after you finish

The book was suspenseful and hard to put down. I only stopped as I need to get some sleep but then picked it up again the next morning. The style reminded me of Jeffrey Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme series.
I'd highly recommend this well-written, suspenseful crime thriller.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
