Good Grief: On Loving Pets, Here and Hereafter by E.B. Bartels

5.0

5★: CHANGED MY THINKING ABOUT A FEW THINGS. I never really thought about the power we humans have with our pets that we don’t have with our fellow humans with regard to end-of-life decisions. And this author actually provided helpful guidance for when to put down a pet (since our pets can’t communicate their last wishes) — to ask whether the pet can still do its three favorite things. Of course when I told a certain human this, they asked if I was going to put them down the same way lol. There was also surprising info on the toll that animal euthanasia takes on veterinarians. And global and historical perspectives on our love of pets. I highly recommend this book to all animal lovers and pet “owners.” Published in August of 2022, Good Grief currently has a 4.28-star average by 361 people.
