My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

3.0

Uniquely enjoyable and kind of felt like a modern-ish mash up of Catcher in the Rye and the Yellow Wallpaper. The first part of the book was sort of cathartic to read. It was fun to experience a fantasy of sleeping for a year and give up all the expectations of grooming, speaking, working, and living. I was going to rate it 4 stars but the last chapter felt distasteful and exploitative and just left me feeling a little weird. This whole book left me feeling a little weird, but thats not always a bad thing.
