This book surprised the heck out of me. It’s riveting - a thrilling page turner because you need to know how it ends. It also highlights the impacts of hundreds of years of oppression, murder of women and girls, and stolen land against indigenous and Native people (this book specifically talks about Quapaw, Narragansett, and Cherokee people). You will finish this book and start googling the real life stories that are the basis of this book. Plus Vanessa puts her own experience as a white-passing Cherokee person into the book. It is phenomenal and perfect for folks looking for another book for Native American Heritage Month.
