The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History by Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman
3.0

3/5 stars

Audiobook Review
Time: 6.5 hours

Hilarious reflections of Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman on their careers, family, how they met, age differences, how they keep it fresh, their parents, work/life balance, and having (or not having) children. It felt like an intimate conversation between a couple in love. If you listen to the audiobook, you miss out on some of the photos that can be found in the print edition. However, Megan and Nick will make you laugh when they describe the pictures in the audiobook. I enjoyed hearing about the challenges they had in the beginning of their relationship. The end of the audiobook focuses on the challenges they have as well known actors. While I could relate to the stories from their childhood, I had a hard time feeling very sympathetic when they discuss how they are never home because of the nature of their work, the amount of money Megan has to spend on designer clothes, and how many fans come up to them when they are out in public. The insight that Nick and Megan have on making a relationship work and doing something you love when you meet people seemed very helpful.

I would recommend the audiobook over the print book. When Nick and Megan were writing this book, they recorded themselves having conversations about various topics. I tried to read the print version, but it felt very disjointed. The format was like you were reading a screenplay. I preferred the audiobook because the chapters flowed more.

There is some swearing in this audiobook. There are jokes and illusions to sex, so I would not recommend this audiobook for a family going on a roadtrip with small children.
