Representation: Ojibwe main character
I got annoyed with the Heroine in this one. I cannot believeshe didn't tell the Heroes her secret until the very last page. However, it's reflective of how entertaining the book is and how good the writing is that I was able to read this book in one sitting. So while I found the Heroine's continued denial so frustrating, it didn't detract from my reading experience too much . I just really want the Heroine to find her self-worth and stand up for herself.
Safety Rating: Safe with Exceptions
• No cheating
• Does have OM drama... but he's not actually an OM
– the Heroine sees Matthew from her time in captivity at the Assembly. She gets it into her head that she can't tell her men about who Matthew is until she gets Matthew's permission (not even that she knew him from when they were held captive together which makes no sense). She refuses to explain who Matthew is which causes a lot of problems with her men as many assume he's an ex-lover and that she doesn't trust them.
• Does have OW drama
– Heroine is very insecure meeting and seeing Lycan women for the first time. Also, Jason and Lucien are hit on by many different women which causes the Heroine to feel very insecure in their relationship and about herself.
• Does have the Heroine pushing the Heroes away (see above about Matthew); does have Lucien pushing the Heroine away
• No separation
Possible Triggers: Yes
• Victim blaming
• PTSD
• Flashbacks of torture (physical and psychological)
• Death of Heroine's father (mentioned off-hand)
• Death of Heroine's younger brother when he was a toddler is discussed
• Attempted r@pe (descriptive)
– mentions of canabalism
• Mutilation
Ending:Mild cliffhanger
