The good thing I enjoy about Kiley Reid's writing is the discussion surrounding the quiet absurdities women and young girls surround themselves with. Many of which are cloaked in racism, internal misogyny, and competitiveness.

Reid's second outing is no different. Simple misunderstandings and expectations are placed on the women involved in this story. Drama encroaches because of the albatrosses dangling from their necks.

It's a slow burn, but ultimately worth the ride.
