4.3-4.6 for me. Haven’t read much horror yet but the ones I have don’t even come close to this one! I love a good cult story and that’s what I got. Felt a bit like Bloodborne at times too which I loved. A great read for spooky season!!
Book wasn’t terrifying but it was damn creepy and really got my heart rate going at times. The paranoia and uncertainty got me good.
Characters felt well written to me for the most part and what really stood out was the dialogue actually felt like really conversation rather than the typical “script-like” feel you get from a lot of books.
SLIGHT SPOILER FOR END:
I think I enjoyed the ending more than most, although it could have been executed better, and some things were just a little TOO convenient (I mean cmon, the ONLY unlocked door was the one you needed to enter? Why wouldn’t they have locked it before trying to ascend??)
