Avgust by Christa Wolf

"This is her first and last male protagonist" - chills. The development of August as a character is assuring. I like how (some) woman writers (sometimes) portray the male protagonist through this intimate perspective of motherly gaze, Woolf does it for me. Wolf, in this piece, leaves August's eccentricity to the reader and delves on the memories, usually abandoned by our age; was awe stricken towards its culmination.
