Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff

3.0

This book has an interesting world (Japanese-inspired steampunk) and a great opening third. However, the story fell off around the middle, and my attention wavered. It ended pretty strongly, but I'm not convinced I need to read the rest of the trilogy. In addition, it's clear that Kristoff's prose isn't as strong as in his later books (the Illuminae trilogy and the Nevernight trilogy, both of which I highly enjoyed). This book isn't bad by any means, but it's mediocre enough that I feel no urge to jump directly into book 2.
