The Giver by Lois Lowry

So this is easily one of my new favorite books now. I am working on a project for class that requires me to create a Novel unit for 8th graders, and sadly as an eighth grader I didn’t read many books in class. I had heard that this book was good and I kept having to put it off because I was reading other things, but dang I am so glad I read it and I wished that I had read it sooner. I am a sucker for dystopian novels (loved 1984), so I didn’t think I wasn’t not going to like this book. I love dystopian novels because it gets us thinking about how we live and what we think is considered right and not right. This book asks questions like Does sheltering ourselves from death save us in the end? And the answer is no. Feelings suck a lot but we have to have them to live and grow.
