The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I still remember the confusion when this book first came out after waiting for it only to realize
that there was no Percy Jackson to be seen in this entire book. Not only was he not in this book, he was missing.
It was a revelation that yes, bummed me out, and yes, slowed my progress on this book a little as I recall from YEARS ago. But I still really liked Jason, Leo, and Piper. Rick Riordan writes exciting stories, exciting heroes and his ability and dedication to writing diverse characters after this book has come out. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the sequel to this title - Son of Neptune - but I loved seeing Camp Half-Blood from new eyes again. It's hard being introduced to new characters in a book series that's already established but Riordan did that well.
