I enjoyed this one much more than the first one. I think I got used to Vera and came to love her as well as her motley band of misfits. I honestly want a Vera in my life. She’s funny and truly wants to care for those in her life.
Some of the twists were sort of obvious by about 60% of the way through the book. But the journey was still worth it. I also loved the overall messages in the book, and I can’t wait to see what Vera gets up to on her trip.
My only complaint was that the book was a bit repetitive. However, overall, it was a dark yet funny cozy mystery.

I’m getting more and more used to Eunice Wong as a narrator, and her voice for Vera got less abrasive to my ears in this book. She does excellent voices for everyone.
