The pacing is horrific. Either nothing is really happening, or everything is happening right that very second. I don't understand how Zoey is supposed to be like the upper side of average looking but has managed to catch the eyes of FIVE SEPARATE GUYS in the course of like FOUR MONTHS. She should seriously consider dropping her use of the words "slut" and "ho." I know the kids at the house of night had become "pod people" under the influence of Neferet and Kalona, but honestly, I don't blame these kids at all for being upset that Zoey gets all the guys and cool gifts from Nyx, especially considering how dumb she is half the time. I'd be pretty pissed too. As with the other books, I'm still finding myself entertained, even if it's just with how dumb the characters are (her squad gives me headaches with how boring and archetypal they are), how repetitive the word choice is (seriously, how many times can she crave her "brown pop" and compare Erik to Superman?), and how absurdly long the flashback in the beginning of the book was (if you ever want to open a book with a dream and a flashback to "before that, here's what happened" maybe keep the before portion less than like 80 pages). Even if I refer to this series as "the garbage fire series,' at least it's an entertaining one.
