Disorientation
by Elaine Hsieh Chou
started out unhinged and entertaining for its ridiculousness, after the big reveal I struggled to keep paying attention.
stay for: what ultimately is a touching story of personal growth, although I feel like the story was too much of a distracting backdrop to focus on this part. A few funny lines.
ultimately after the climax midway it was hard to keep up the momentum in the story, the second big reveal wasn’t quite as shocking as I believe the author wanted it to be, and at that point the characters behavior stopped being compelling. and then also although I like that it explored a lot of seldomly covered racial dynamics in dating, sometimes it felt like race 101
