This story feels like it would have been better of as a Novella. My biggest point of praise is how Zahn writes Anakin and Padme. I felt it lined up incredibly well with how they were portrayed in The Clone Wars, and felt this could easily have fit in as a 2 or 3 episode arc. But that comes to the core of the issue I have which is that there's nothing that interesting. This comes from a lack of a sense of dread or urgency. We're told the conflict is important, but I never felt that way as a reader. If you enjoy Anakin and Thrawn, you'll like this. But it's not a must-read Star Wars novel.
