The Naughty Princess by Claire Contreras

3.0

AT LAST, some sense of winning in this series. Don't get me wrong:
– I still had issues with the writing;

– The plot moved too fast

– The struggle to wrap my head around the concept of traveling in this world is still pretty much real

– I lowkey hated that the book started... you know... THE MORNING AFTER, considering Elias' book did NOTHING to introduce the new couple. I needed the author to set a scene on Pilar and Ben's dynamic. Were they friends? Kinda strangers who frequent the same events and kinda wanna bone? And about that night, did they plan to meetup, or did he find her drunk at an event and decide to take her home? GIVE ME A REASON FOR THEM TO END THE NIGHT TOGETHER!!!

– Is there too much to ask for more development in the feelings department? In book 1, Pilar admitted finding Ben hot. In this book, Ben admits to know about Pilar's long crush on him, but did he have feelings for her? You know, other than "I jUsT nEeD oNe NiGhT wItH hEr"???

– Also......... WHY THE HECK WAS THE WHOLE THING WITH KAYLA SO OVERLOOKED AT THE END??

Despite all the pointers above, as well as some farfetched elements of the story (like THE QUEEN casually being at the stadium), I enjoyed this book. I liked Pilar, and Ben turned out to be a nice guy too. Though despising the way the author excused cheating with grieving, I LOVED Ben and Tamara's dynamic. I appreciated how they, not only managed to stay friends, but also were so present in each other's daily lives, providing Asher with family unity, even though mom and dad were no longer together.

I also think this book made a better job at setting the tone for the next installment. There was the accident and the partying instead of resting that followed. Amaris' need to settle down and Joss' hard task to find someone suited for him. There was already banter between the two, and Pilar even called him out on his moodiness whenever Joss mentioned other men.
