Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
4.0

Okay--this was my first Cassandra Clare book and--I really enjoyed this! I’ve heard a lot of people hating her, or loving her, (such is the case with many popular YA authors) but I’m relieved to say I fall into the latter category. Well, maybe I don’t love her yet, but I did enjoy this. I’ve heard a lot of reviewers say this was a copy of her other series The Mortal Instruments, but I haven’t read that yet so this felt wholly original to me. Aside from a few common tropes like the love triangle, orphaned main character, et cetera.

I liked Tessa, especially her love of books.
“One must always be careful of books and what is inside them,’ said Tessa, “For words have the power to change us.”

I Loved Jem. He was such a sweet cinnamon roll.
Spoiler I’m so sad that he might be dying! Please don’t die Jem!!!

Will… hmm. He was so funny but could be cruel. However I have a feeling that it’s for a good reason… I can’t wait to find out more about his past in the next book!
I also really liked Sophie, Charlotte, Henry, and Jessamine… yes, Jessie’s annoying but I liked her.

There were a few moments where the story dragged and I didn’t feel completely engaged. The ending changed that, though.

Very very excited for Clockwork Prince!
