Kingdom of the Wicked
by Derek Landy
I was actually going to rate this book 4 stars. The middle was a little slow and the scapegrace parts, in my opinion, were unnecessary. But just like the end of all his books the last 50-75 pages were so amazingly beautiful, I had to give it 5 stars. The epilogue was just stunning, I knew that Valkyrie's reflection was becoming messed up. I just didn't know how Landy was going to play everything out. And how "the sparrow flies south in the winter" that was hilarious. Missing Fletcher a little but not much, and the alternate dimension thing was really interesting. I wish we could go back there later, but I don't think we every will. Ugh such a great book LOVED IT!
EDIT June 2020: I'm rereading this whole series and I'm enjoying it just as much as I did five years ago when I first read it. I do still agree with my past self that the scapegrace parts are boring and I wish the character died when he was a zombie but the alternate dimension stuff was fantastic. I love that Valkyrie is kinda not a good person. She's selfish and makes bad decisions because it and that's what makes her a realistic well written character in a totally fantasy setting.
