Forever Is a Lie by Novoneel Chakraborty
2.0

The first book in the Forever duology Forever is a Lie is written by Novoneel Chakraborty. The story revolves around Prisha and Saveer's love life accompanied by some mysterious shadows. The eyes of a girl on the cover page are alluring.

Prisha was 18-years old when she first met Saveer, also known as Mean Monster in the Bengaluru party circuit. Being a 34-year-old, Saveer ignores her first and considers her as a teenager; who doesn't know anything about true love. Prisha had a break-up, and somehow Saveer's words helped her to move on. She was obsessed with him, follow him everywhere with her friends, Diggy and Gauri. He brings her dark side in front of her.

Soon the circumstances changes and their relationship started to flourish. They were so engrossed in each other that they avoid unusual signs which state that they were not meant for each other. Saveer has no kith and kin, no friends. They all were dead, but the reason was not mentioned in this book. Prisha's life is also at stake, but Saveer didn't share his secret with Prisha, just like his dead ex-girlfriend, Isha. He has a pang of guilt, but he didn't learn his lesson. Honesty is the key that Saveer lacks in his relationships.

The story felt flat and monotonous. It picked some fascinating elements in the end, but it was too late. The characters were okay, they do all the stupid things which we expect from 18-19 years old. The language is simple. I read Cheaters last year and enjoyed it very much. I have high hopes with this one, but I am utterly disappointed. The book lacks a thriller. I am not sure if I am gonna pick the second book any soon or ever. If you're new to reading, looking for something light to read, then pick this one; or just leave it.
