OK, maybe it's not fair that I picked this up rather than the prose version. In my going back to classic children's lit I had never read the original when growing up and I generally like Hope Larson's style. The book was a trite disappointment. The metaphor of Christianity vs communism, of Love overcoming the evil powers of enforced conformity, are so incredibly heavy handed that it's impossible to take the thing seriously as anything other than cold war propaganda.

Maybe L'Engle's prose is brilliant and I missed with with the graphic novel but if I want Christian SF I'll happily read CS Lewis before exposing myself to more of this tripe.
