The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson
4.0
WOW...Lana Ferguson just gained a new fan. Now I need to go back and read her other books! The Fake Mate is pure delight - it was so good! Okay, let me start by saying I had NO IDEA this was a shifter romance...I don't read blurbs, but my dumb brain didn't put the title and the cover together. LMAO - okay, now to the good stuff. The best thing about this book is the plot! Seriously - it was very well written and thought out. Think of Grey's Anatomy vibes with a bit of True Blood, a medical drama with a paranormal element.
My favorite scenes :
The first knot
The cabin - aka heat weekend
All of the hospital scenes, especially the janitor's closet
Time with Grandma
And LET'S talk about the spice! Holy goodness, the spice was so hot. Noah and Mackenzie's connection literally scorched off each page, even from their first interaction. Noah is so dirty - wash that man's mouth with soap. JK!! I found myself glued to this one and devoured it in one day. I didn't want their story to end. Noah had me in a puddle - his raw emotions had me wanting a bite from him...seriously, I loved his character! The only reason why I didn't rate this five stars is because of the silly third-act breakup..like why?!?!?
Overall, this is a great read; I'd gladly re-read it. It's definitely different from any other shifter romance and was so refreshing.
