Joyland by Stephen King

I quite enjoyed this story, as I do all of King's bittersweet coming of age tales. I'm glad I knew beforehand that it was less of a scream and more of a shiver, so I knew just to enjoy the ride. I am from SC and I am familiar with the setting, so I found myself pleased with King's depiction of the area. I was a little put off by the "scary" ending, since I was enjoying the lullaby of Dev's story so much, but I also understand that there had to be some kind of resolution to the murder story. It just seemed a bit tacked on. However, nobody does a first person narrative like King, and characters like Dev make me feel like I am privy the horror master as a young man. As a Constant Reader, that is always a pleasure.
