A young time traveller is pulled from one point in time and place to meet a strong, willful kid. Together their lives are pulled in unexpected ways as an ancient prophecy comes to fruition.

This book feels like a prequel. We are introduced to worlds, politics and histories. It is all quite overwhelming, and it is unavoidable to explain so much without slowing down the pace of the story. Much of the explaining and describing could be condensed or deleted to make the book more readable, but it is all well written.

There are typos scattered throughout the book, if that sort of thing gets to you. Also, much of the book is descriptive rather than guttural, which does create some distance between reader and story.

Overall, it's a lovely read. Though it's slow at times, the plot is gripping, and the writing is lovely.
