Wow, I don’t even know where to begin. Actually, I do… TENSION. It was off the charts!
He’s the mafia’s boss of all bosses. She’s her uncle’s handyman. He’s engaged to her cousin. She’s tasked with keeping an eye on him. Sounds intriguing, right? So when I say tension, I mean it.
Venesa and Enzo are two people trapped in lives they don’t want. When they meet, it’s like two puzzle pieces clicking together. They fall hard—and it’s amazing because it’s wrong. It’s forbidden. The slow burn and the way the characters are developed is absolutely perfect.
There’s family drama, forbidden love, and twisted games. Who is who? Who can be trusted? The tension runs through the entire book!
And I have to acknowledge the author, Emily McIntire. She is an inspiration—a testament to never giving up. She wrote this book while battling stage four breast cancer. She’s a fighter, a survivor, and an incredibly strong woman. I feel like Venesa’s fierceness and strength reflect so much of Emily herself.
