I really loved this book. I think reading it in 2025 added some extra value to it. I mean, the story takes place in 2025. It is a very different world than ours, but one that I could totally imagine happening. Actually, if we continue with the air pollution, some aspects of the book might happen.
I loved how easily it read. It had a good flow and small bits to read. The countdown is a great idea. I also liked the concept of the Quiz shows, although the selection process was a bit weird.
The main character started up like someone you could simpatize with but for some reason as the story continued I had less and less sympathie for him.I also find it wierd how long he was going on with all his injuries and having his wound open up multiple times. However, I understand that he needed to go on, in order to finish his "mission". I liked the ending, how he accepts the job and then kills everyone who is part of the game. Saving the life of the innocent woman was a nice gesture. I'm a bit sad that we don't get to know how his wife and child really died. Also, the timing seemed a bit strange. If I understand correctly they were already dead when the money for the game was delivered. This was for me not logical. Overall I kept reading and found myself thinking about the book when I was not reading it. There were some interesting topics regarding politics, economics and sociology which could be a great discussion starter.
