Supermarket
by Bobby Hall
Unaware of who the author was, I picked up this book purely because of the minimalist cover. That seems to be the only interesting and attention-grabbing part of this book. Supermarket is a poorly written novel full of overused archetypes and tropes. (Not to mention the blatant racial profiling and stereotyping of black women in the first couple of pages.) The writing style was extremely lacking, reminiscent of a story written by a pretentious high schooler. That being said, the middle portion of the book (a small portion before part two and some of part two) was tolerable and somewhat exciting, yet still cliche and predictable.
I'm giving this one 2 stars for a unique idea, but poor execution.
