Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography by David Javerbaum, Neil Patrick Harris
5.0

In the past, I've confessed that I'm not a big fan of the Harry Potter books. (To me, they all seem like the same book. Valdemort tries to kill Harry. Harry wins. Rinse, repeat.)

Today, I reveal that I've also never been a fan of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books.

I'm way linear in my reading. I read magazines back to front; never skipping to the article I really want to read. Same with short story anthologies.

I read exactly two CYOA books as a kid. The first nearly drove me insane. I would read each option given, then the all legs off those options, etc. I can't stand not knowing the whole story. The thought of missing something is very distressing for me.

The second CYOA I read as a kid, I just read straight through. Front to back.

That's how I read this book.

I highly recommend this book! Read any way you like, it's a good book.

NPH has had an amazing life! (Which he is constantly humbled and awed by throughout the book.)
This book is very funny. It's also loving and poignant. The chapter about the birthday surprise actually had me in tears.
