challenging emotional reflective sad

4.0

I personally felt this book fell flat in the middle. There was a lot of jumping around in time, and although the story is focused on one family, our attention is thrown around between them too often after too much time has passed so we aren't really able to form any kind of emotional connection. I enjoyed how the story was initially established and by the end of the book, I was able to have slightly more of an emotional connection with at least one or two of the characters, which helped my overall enjoyment of the book.
