The Blackhouse by Peter May
4.0
I started reading this book on Lewis and Harris, so my point of view might be altered indefinitely by the expansive, lonely bogs of Lewis and the breathtaking beaches and mountains of Harris. The sense of place was strong with this book, and I developed an understanding of the importance of traditions - such as the guga hunts of Ness. The mystery was slow paced, but believable. I would definitely consider reading the second book.
