The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
3.0
3.5 stars.
Yes, this book took me almost exactly 2 months to read. Granted, I am an English teacher and the bulk of my reading material during the school year unfortunately is student writing, leaving me with very few moments for pleasure reading.
Nevertheless, this book was a struggle. It wasn't the language at all. This series is extremely readable, but I really only enjoyed the first and last 200 pages of this second installment, while I absolutely devoured the first. The middle of this book was honestly boring and I feel as if a lot of it was unnecessary.
That said, I will be reading the sequel for a few reasons. First and foremost is that this is one of my dad's favorite series and I feel the need to do this for him. But also, the characters in this series are wonderful and I want to see them survive. When the action gets going, it is truly a cannot-put-it-down kind of excitement that Sanderson has provided. I am hopeful for a better read in the third and final book.
